Jehovah Shammah by Lois Clifford | PAROUSIA Magazine

Jehovah Shammah means “the Lord he is there”
And as he cares for the flowers for me he does care.
He knows every little detail, none could know me better.
It is he who crafted me like a beautiful sweater.
For he has been with me since the time of my birth
And he will abide with me when my soul leaves the earth.
His presence was so precious all through my life
In the good times of peace and the hard times of strife.
When my feet wandered too often to that thorny place
He still followed me there extending his grace
And said
“My daughter, stop drinking from the broken well
That leaves you thirsty and as empty as a shell.
Walk with me. Don’t do this by yourself.
I want to be beside you, not up on a shelf.”
I am learning that nothing can separate me
From the love of the one that created me.
Angels nor demons nor depth nor height
Can pull me away from perpetual light.
So this is how I respond to that gracious plea:
“Dear Lord in glory why would you choose me?
I am cracked and flawed in too many places
And feel I have fallen from too many graces.”
That’s when you look at me and I finally see
That aľl you ever noticed in my life was the real me.
And no matter how many times I wander and stray,

Jehovah Shammah, you will never ever, ever go away.

I live in Ontario Canada and I only have written a handful of poems but I very much enjoy writing as I feel it connects me to God and I hope to write many more in my life time and I am curious to see how people respond to them.
