5 Things To Consider In 2016 by Ikechukwu Amadi

The beginning of a new year is always a good time to start doing things right and saying good bye to old and destructive habits of the past.

I have put up a list of things you may want to consider for this year.

1. Pray more.

Prayer is the pipeline through which we connect heaven. What that basically means is that God will transfer things into your spirit man through the channel of prayer. If therefore you fail to pray, you shortchange yourself and put yourself at risk of insufficient supply of insight and power for the new year. Make a decision to pray more. May God grant you and me the grace.

2. Read your Bible more.
The word of God is the packaged wisdom of God. It is packaged for you and me, and if you don’t read it, you are saying you want to rely on your own wisdom for this year. It may take you a few days, but won’t take you through. Stick to the word of God and know God’s plan and purpose for your life. Exchange your ideas and thoughts with God’s ideas and thoughts for you.

3. Build strong relationships

No man is an island. Team work makes the dream work. What one man will do in 10 days, 10 men can do in 1 day and 10 times better too. No man has the monopoly of wisdom and ideas. And although it is very tough to mingle with people of different personality styles, we must learn to do so. Read books on how to live and work with people. Be humble and put in the work required to tap the benefits and you’ll be amazed at what wonderful returns you’ll harvest in the coming years. Make sure there are people in your life who can count on you, and vice-versa

4. Have a to-don’t list.

I know. It is an aberration from the ‘ to do ‘ list we’re very conversant with. Have a list of things you’ll stop doing in this year.  This list might contain useful things that aren’t in any way connected to your long term purpose but drain your energy, time, and even money. Stop doing them so you can create time for more important things that are connected to your purpose.

5. Be a man of activity. Do something!

Don’t be lazy. Be committed to your dream. Put in the required effort. Don’t back out of work. Start projects and finish them. Have a list of things to do, start them and finish them. Don’t over think or worry. Just do what you have to do and move on. Let this year be a year of action. Don’t delay. Don’t negotiate your success with anyone. Be responsible. Don’t pass the buck. Don’t give excuses. Settle down and do something this year.

I believe that when we gather again to take stock of the year, we’ll have many reasons to thank God.

Cheers to a great year!
