THERE IS A GOD by Shoola Oyindamola

There is a God

There is a God
Whose cover no one can sow,
Who sows and no one can cover.

There is a God
Who makes tempest and no man is saved,
Who saves man and no tempest can turn.

There is a God
Whose palm covers darkness,
Whose darkness or wrath no palm can cover.

There is a God
Who is for us and nobody can be against,
Whom when against us, no one can be for us.

There is a God
Whose commands and words are life,
Who gives life with words and commands.

There is a God
Who builds what man cannot build,
Who is a building no man can build.

There is a God
Whom everyone serves,
Who serves no one.

There is a God
Whom we bless with uncountable tongues,
Whose blessings are testimonies of uncountable tongues.

There is a God
Who makes man,
Whom no man can make.

There is a God
Whom we all know,
There is a God who knows all.

There is a God
Who is three in one,
There is a God, Who is one in three.

The altar

At the altar is where we bring our needs
With full humility of our bowing knees.
At the altar is where we all meet
All of us with journeys bitter sweet.

At the altar
Is where all blessings cannot alter.
At the altar
We ought not to stutter.

At the altar is where people dance
In and out of spiritual trance.
At the altar is where we tell Jesus
All our fears, sorrows and cares.

At the altar
Is where we alter
All the hurts and halts
Of our souls utterance to Jesus.

Job and the rich fool

Yesterday, I met a man on the street,
He boasted that his cars were a fleet.
When I wished I had his,
They said his happiness left since.

I met another near the mall
Though his clothes were not so tall,
He told me he was so happy.
In my mind, I thought he was crazy.

He said he had lots of riches
And that he had seen a lot of persons.
He said many that left were his friends
But the only one that stayed was Jesus.

Today, I heard they both died
And when I heard, I cried.
The first was haunted by his cars,
The second’s soul was cared for by angels.
