A Poem by Angelique Van Deusen | He is Risen Issue 11 | PAROUSIA Magazine

MY NAME

Empty
It was empty
Except for
Them
Oils, perfume
Shattered
Seeping deep in the
Ground
The smells now flooding
The air
Tears
My tears filling
Over flowing in
My hands
It was gone
He was gone
I was sure they
Took Him
But where, where
He spoke
Asking why
Why was I crying
Couldn’t he see
Couldn’t he tell
The tomb is opened
The body not
There
So I begged, I pleaded
Please tell me
Where did they take
Him
Where has His
Body gone
Then it happened
It’s all He had to
Say
And I knew
“Mary”
My Lord is ALIVE
How could I
Not see
How could I
Not tell
“Mary”
My name is all
He had to say
Then He sent me
A woman
To tell the others
I wanted to touch
Him
I wanted to hold
Him
“Mary”
The way He said
It
Resonated in my soul
Shivers went
Down my body
I ran
Ran as fast
As I could go
Stumbling, falling
Streams down
My face
He’s ALIVE, He’s ALIVE
My Lord is alive
They had to see
For themselves
But all I needed
Was His voice
Saying “Mary”
