ASCENSION THURSDAY
As you go up to the heavens dear Lord,
Sprinkle unto this desolate land thy mystical colors,
Standing crestfallen, flooded by bloodbath,
Smitten by violent strife and hate.
Let the mystery in these colors
Absorb the awful sights of war.
Let its Mystical fragrance,
Perfume our broken hearts
Let thy mystical presence
Silence the whizzing bullets
And the pounding of war machines
Healing overburdened hearts.
Let thy mystical strength
Melt away teary eyes of
Grieving souls who’ve lost
All in sizzling flames
Let the mystery in these colors bring
Healing to the oppressed, who
Depressed, see their sun slipping
Sleepily away over the horizon.
Let thy mysterious tidings
Intone new songs in our hearts
Let men hear with their hearts
Take us through this tunnel of pain
To enjoy the spoils of peace.
PENTECOST
Come Holy Spirit blest
On our heads settle
Like tongues of fire.
Let hearts glow with thy love.
Like a gentle breeze
Slough through this forest of atrocities.
All the spikes, chains, disentangle.
From mire of oppression, set thy people free.
Let thy fire pacify
Restless spirits of
Slain heroes yearning
For justice in our spirit.
Let thy fire strengthen
Hearts seeking for truth and justice
Dispose them to love as Christ bade
To speak words that heal not those that hurt.
Let thy fire incline souls
Unto good to apprehend
Vainness of earthly power & fame
With genuine love seek thy face.
Let all knees bow
Before you in adoration
You alone are God
You alone are Mighty.
Let thy eternal fire drive away darkness
Let the embers of war and hate die into ashes
So that from it the mythical phoenix rises
To soar with the fresh wings of freedom.
