BETHLEHEM IN SILENCE

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

(Luke 2 :13-14)

 

It was

 

……silent……

      congested night

in Bethlehem

 

     and a star appeared in the

                                                                                       East

 

It was

 

…….silent……

but for baaing sheep

                  lullabying….

the Lamb

to sleep

 

It was

 

……silent……

but for the praise rendition

of winged celestial

                         beings

 

It was

 

……silent……

      but for the humming

                                          & singing of shepherds

 

It was in

 

……silence……

      the Bridge reuniting

      Godwithsinners

first appeared

 

Heaven stood

…..still…..

Earth fell

                 into

                          silence

 

                        Only in Bethlehem

came a carol

               an orchestra of

the celestial

                       &

                          terrestrial

 

and Peace was

                   princely sleeping

in a palace of hay
