A SPECIAL GUEST by Emmanuel Faith

  A SPECIAL GUEST

If Jesus came to your abode to spend a day or two
If he comes unexpectedly I wonder what you’d do
I know you’d give the nicest room to such an honoured guest
And all the food you’d serve him would be the very best
You’d keep assuring you’re glad to have Him here
That serving Him in your home gives you joy you can’t compare

But when you see Him coming, would you meet him at the door
With an outstretched arm in welcome of your heavenly visitor?
Would you have to change your clothe before letting Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the bible where they’ve been
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hasn’t heard?
And wish you had not uttered the last nasty word

Would you hide your wordly music and put some hymn book out?
Could you let Jesus walk in or would you rush about?
And I wonder if the saviour decides to stay a day or two
Would you go right on doing the things you do?
Would you keep up with those slangs you normally say?
Will your life be as normal as it is day to day?

Would your family conversation keep its usual pace?
Or would you find it hard to say the table grace
Would you read the books and novel you always read?
And let Him know the things your soul and spirit feed
Would you ask Christ to follow you to places you planned to go?
Or would you change your plans for two days or so

Would you be glad to have him meet your best and closest friends?
Or hope they all stay away till His visit ends
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when He is gone?
It might be intriguing to know the things you’d do
If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you

Jesus longs to visit you every time and day
But is your heart prepared for His precious stay?
Don’t hold back anything or keep the Lord waiting
The consequence may be enormously weighty
Jesus longs to visit you, not for a day or two
He’s ready to go through the life’s journey with you.
